Saehoon Chung, Composer

정세훈은 연세대학교, 독일 프라이부르크 음대, 쾰른 음대에서 철학, 독문학, 작곡을 공부하였고, 김청묵, 조사방, Jörg Widmann, Johannes Schöllhorn을 사사하였다. 그의 음악은 형이상학적 주제를 극한적 음향적 가능성으로 표현하며, 여러 채널을 혼합한 새로운 예술의 가능성을 탐구한다. 서울문화재단, 한국문화예술위원회의 후원으로 여러 차례 작품을 발표하였고, 쾰른 서독일방송교향악단, 앙상블 무직파브릭, 팀프앙상블, 앙상블 아인스 등의 연주단체와 협업하여 국내외 여러 음악제에서도 작품들을 발표하였다. 제1회 대한민국 젊은 작곡가 파안 박영희 상을 수상하였다. 21세기악회, 창악회, ACL-Korea, ISCM 회원이며, Project ensemble Morph, 씨에노, 진실과 극한의 일원으로도 활동하고 있다. 현재 경희대학교, 서울시립대학교, 한양대학교, 국민대학교, 추계예술대학교에서 작곡과 음악이론을 가르치고 있다.

After first studying philosophy and German literature, Saehoon Chung studied composition with Cheong Mook Kim at Yonsei University, with Jörg Widmann in Freiburg and with Johannes Schöllhorn in Cologne. His music shows an interest in metaphysical ideas, seeks the limits of sonic possibilities, and explores concert forms integrating space and media.

Many of his projects, including concerts for large ensemble, multimedia and music theater, have been supported by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture and the Arts Council Korea. His music has also been performed at many festivals and by ensembles and orchestras including WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Ensemble Timf and Ensemble Eins. He lives in Seoul, and teaches composition and music theory at several universities.
